1. Information Collection and Use

1.1 Dream Data

Our app collects and processes the following dream-related information:

• Dream descriptions (via voice recording into text input or just text input)
• Dream timestamps and dates
• Dream categorization
• Emotion and mood data associated with dreams
• Dream themes, symbols, and patterns
• App usage analytics (number of dreams recorded, analysis requests)

1.2 Account Information

The app offers three sign-in options:

• Anonymous (Default): No personal information collected
• Google Sign-In: Email, name, and profile picture collected for account sync
• Apple Sign-In: Email and name collected for account sync (iOS only)

We also collect basic usage data: user ID, device platform, app version, crash reports, and country-level location. This helps us improve the app and is processed by Firebase according to their privacy practices.

1.3 AI Analysis Data

When you use our AI analysis features, we process:

• Dream content for pattern recognition and symbolism analysis
• Emotional context and mood mapping
• Recurring themes and dream elements
• Usage patterns for rate limiting and fair usage enforcement

1.4 AI-Generated Images

When you use our AI image generation feature (available for analyzed dreams), we process:

• AI-generated visual prompts derived from your dream analysis
• Generated images are stored in cloud storage
• Images are processed by third-party AI services
• Image generation is rate-limited (1 image per analyzed dream)
• Generated images are linked to your account

2. Data Storage and Protection

2.1 Local Storage

The App operates with a privacy-first approach. Your dream data is stored locally on your device using a secure SQLite database. We do not have access to your dream content unless you explicitly use our AI analysis services.

2.2 Cloud Processing

When you request AI analysis of your dreams, the dream content is securely transmitted to our Firebase Cloud Functions for processing. This data is:

• Processed in real-time and not permanently stored on our servers
• Transmitted using industry-standard encryption
• Used solely for generating your dream analysis
• Automatically deleted after processing is complete

2.3 Data Location

Cloud services (authentication, backups) are hosted in the United States via Google Firebase. Dream data remains on your device unless you explicitly enable cloud backup. Cloud backup is available free of charge to all users.

3. Premium Features and Subscriptions

3.1 Subscription Management

When you purchase premium features:

• Payment processing is handled by Google Play or Apple App Store
• RevenueCat receives your purchase receipt and subscription status
• We receive anonymized subscription validation data
• No payment information or credit card details are stored by us

3.2 Usage Credits

We track AI analysis usage to enforce fair usage limits:

• Free users: 3 total AI analyses (subject to change)
• Premium users: Unlimited with rate limiting
• Credit consumption is tracked server-side for security

4. AI and Third-Party Services

4.1 AI Service Providers

Our AI features use OpenAI's API for dream analysis and image generation:

• When you request an AI analysis, your dream content (text, mood, and dream type) is sent to OpenAI for processing
• OpenAI's API data usage policy applies to this processing — see OpenAI's API Data Usage Policies
• API keys are secured server-side and never exposed to your device
• Your data is not used by OpenAI to train their models
• Generated images are stored in cloud storage for your access

4.2 Firebase Services

We use Google Firebase for user authentication (Anonymous, Google, and Apple Sign-In), cloud AI processing, analytics, and cross-device sync for signed-in users.

4.2.1 Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data to understand how the App is used and to improve the experience. This includes:

• Feature interactions (e.g., dream recording, analysis requests, notification preferences)
• Screen views and navigation patterns (e.g., onboarding completion)
• Subscription events (e.g., purchase starts and completions)
• Engagement metrics (e.g., streaks, search usage)

This data is aggregated and does not include dream content, personal notes, or any identifiable dream information. Analytics data is processed by Google Firebase in accordance with Google's privacy practices. You can limit analytics collection by disabling usage data sharing in your device settings.

4.3 Google and Apple Sign-In

When you sign in with Google or Apple, their respective privacy policies apply to the authentication process. We only collect the information necessary for account management and do not access your other Google or Apple services.

4.4 Speech Recognition and Voice Recordings

Voice recording uses your device's native speech recognition:

• Audio is processed locally on your device when possible
• Some platforms may use cloud-based speech services
• Transcribed text is stored locally in your dream journal
• On supported devices, original audio recordings are saved locally on your device alongside the transcription
• Voice recordings are not included in cloud backups and remain on-device only
• Voice recordings are automatically deleted when the associated dream is deleted

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal dream data with third parties, except:

• For AI analysis processing (as described above)
• When required by law or legal process
• To protect our rights, property, or safety
• With your explicit consent

6. Rate Limiting and Fair Usage

To ensure quality service and prevent abuse, we implement usage limits:

• Server-side validation of analysis requests
• Cooldown periods between AI analyses
• Daily and hourly usage caps for premium users
• Temporary blocking of excessive usage patterns

7. Data Security

We implement multiple layers of security:

• HTTPS encryption for all network communications
• Server-side API key protection
• Secure Firebase authentication
• Regular security audits and updates

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data. However, as most data is stored locally, you are responsible for maintaining your device's security.

8. Your Rights and Control

8.1 Data Access and Control

You have the right to:

• Access all your dream data through the app interface
• Request complete account deletion

8.2 Data Deletion

To delete your data:

• Local data: Uninstall the app or use in-app data clearing options
• Account data: Open the app, go to Backup & Restore, and tap "Delete Account." This immediately deletes your Firebase account, cloud backups, and associated server-side data

9. Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy. Continued use of our Services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
